Default Volvo C70 2006 2.4 Petrol OIL LEAK

Hello

I have an oil leak at the front of the engine bay to the left, photo attached.

I spotted some oil under the car after a long drive.

Have tried to look up what part or parts this is ?

I don't any jacks to see under.

I guess a visit to the Garage is the best idea!

If you're referring to the circled part, it's the oil filter housing. Should be an O ring to stop it leaking. Has it recently had an oil change?

Thank you. No it has not. I will check it has not loosened.

Can I change the filter easily myself (without undertaking any other work such as an oil change ?)

I've not personally done one on the 2.4l engine, but in general they are easy to change. You'll just need a basic socket set and preferably a torque wrench. Make sure you get the new o ring seated correctly and don't over tighten it. You'll probably be able to find a good guide on YouTube, or have a look in a Haynes manual.

Also check the condition of the housing for any cracks or obviously deformatity, in which case it'll need replacing

Yes you can just change the filter without the need to drain the oil.
You will need a little bit of oil to top up.
I believe the filter housing is 36mm.

yes as above
if it were me, id put a rag or 3 over the alternator when taking the filter out
no matter how careful you are and how you wangle the filter into a poly bag to stop the mess there IS always That drip or 4,, rag/rags over the alternator to catch them
