This must be one of the best still left. Only 32,000 miles. MoTs to prove; the latest runs to 11/11. One family ownership plus me. Light blue. Original refurbed alloys. 5 brand new tyres; the old ones were the originals. They look OK but I changed them on safety grounds. I've kept them in case the new owner wants to maintain originality but I reckon after 27 years they are not the best things to be motorway driving on. Everything works, apart from the clock. In really lovely condition; the back seats look as though they have never been sat on. Located Norfolk/Suffolk border. £2,250 ono. Ring Philip Martin on 01379 854852.

The story I have been given is that this car was bought new by the first owner as a retirement present in 1984. Six months later he died. His widow couldn't bring herself to get rid of it; she could drive, but was not really interested so the car was used very little. It sat around for years and was ultimately given to a nephew last year who was in between cars and needed something on a temporary basis. He sold it to me when he bought the classic Jag he had been looking for.

I wanted it because this exact model was my first company car in 1984 and I hankered after a rerun 27 years later, and I haven't been disappointed. I've had to give the brakes (new piston seals) and the rear shocks some attention. The original Volvo fitted floor mats back and front have preserved the carpets very well; they're not worn at all and the boot area has obviously been well protected as well. It runs beautifully.

Looks absolutely amazing!!! Colour is beautiful too.

I would be very tempted to buy this if either:
1) I had some space (would have to be a garage for a car in this condition)
2) I could bring myself to get rid of my old shed-on-wheels!

What engine size is the car?

That is a very nice 245!!

BUT, the tyres profiles seems to be the wrong size..... my father had those wheels on his 240 GLT and at the time (1984) they were considered to be "low-profile". Correct size should be either 185/70-14 or 195/65-14.

NewVolvo I was thinking exactly that about the tyres.
It looks like it's on balloon tyres...lol
Seriously they look way too big for this car and are probably dangerous!
Really nice looking 245 though I wish I could afford it.

I doubt very much if these tyres would be dangerous; after all, the maximum height tyre is 80 profile (80% of the tyre's width) and the car was probably designed with full height tyres in mind. Remember this was never intended (by Volvo, at any rate) to be a tarmac-burner, they always put comfort ahead of speed in those days, and one thing is for sure, you certainly get a smoother ride on full height tyres, none of this silly "ultra stiff sidewall" nonsense!
