Only went to change a bulb!
Well restoration begins, never done anything like this before, patched cars up in my student days but this is a whole new game. Pretty solid though and I have wings so should make good progress.
Already have a list of parts as long as my arm! |

Thanks, being really logical, bagged and labelled everything. I am going for something like the Swedish an Norwegian retro look. John H is the inspiration!

Good! Paint/prime/cavity wax all those inner areas and take loads of pics. That turquoise is very '70s, I wish cars were in fun, bright colours, nowadays they are often so drab!

Photograph EVERYTHING before you dismantle it. That way you will know where every last nut and bolt will go back, Especially any wiring.

It may feel like you are trying to eat an iceberg at times.
Keep nibbling and you get there! That turquoise is too 70's for words. Fantastic! |

Good start so far. You might want to load the photos to photobucket or similar so they can viewed full size.

Cool, looking good. Every job done is one less on the list, however small the job seems Be interesting to compare notes on mod as you may be looking at a similar look to me with my 142

Thanks for the support, engine out this weekend. Anyone got any tips for that or if you're in south Yorkshire a hoist I can borrow? Having lower third sandblasted, £120 was a great price, worth that for the time saved in stripping under seal.

Getting there
Great to see you making progress. That engine was always fine. No oil burning or overheating and very smooth and quiet. No ball of fire as a B20A of course but it should last a long time. Most worthwhile mod would be to either change it to manual transmission (I think floor pans are identical in a 72) or consider a 240 autobox (AW71). Latter option is much more work, however, and getting a working speedo will be tricky as well as sourcing a conversion plate.
As discussed, I'd seriously consider changing the screen trim fitting to a 240 one to deter the recurrence of rust in the surround.
