How to unlock all windows with keyfob?
How can I pull down all the windows and sunroof with my key fob. I tried a few times today, I pressed and hold the unlock button but nothing worked. Then I pressed and hold the yellow button, no joy.
I tried the 3rd time, by holding and pressing both buttons on the key fob, and nothing happened at all. Any ideas? Also, where is the traction control button located? |

Has it ever worked on your car? I'm sure I've read that a software update from volvo is required to make it work. I can't open all my windows using the key fob, but oddly can close them all!
To turn the traction control off you need to rotate the dial on the indicator stalk until the dash display reads "DSTC ON" and then hold the reset button on the stalk. I don't think that fully disables the TC though..it's always partly enabled. |

With the remote of the S40/V50, depending on how you have the car setup i.e unlock all doors with one (first) button press or unlock just drivers door with one press of unlock and then the rest with a second press.
You may have to press unlock once to open drivers door then press and HOLD unlock a second time for all doors to open and then windows to open after a pause and the unlock button still held. Not 100% but I think the windows are returned to a previous known state so you may want to open all windows then lock the car with a press and hold of the lock button until all windows close, then try opening the car and holding unlock to try and re-open windows automatically. It works fine on my 2004 V50 - open and close via remote. |

I've only tried it today. I might give that a go, close the windows with the key fob, and see if it closes the windows are not.

Is there not a setting in the set up that allows you to do this via the key fob? You may need to look through the settings where you adjust the clock and things like that...?

Later cars it is a menu option, earlier cars it's a dealer / vida setting.

I had a little play with the setting, but no joy. Kind of confusing, so might have a look at the manual. i can lock all the windows with the key fob but can't unlock it.

I stumbled across this thread while looking for answers on a problem I have. Now I'm puzzled with the word "fob". From the tekst I guess it's the remote (for locking/unlocking the doors). Any of you guys likes to explain what the characters F O B stand for? Thanks a lot helping me broaden my knowlegde of non Dutch automotive terms and abbreviations. Welmoed. |

"Fob" is a word many people (including myself) use to describe the key remote, although technically we use it incorrectly as the proper definition of a fob is actually a chain or ring that keys are attached to.

Thanks for the explanation.
I already have been thinking what the F O and B could stand for. Without your explanation I would never have guessed this. So we all should use "the remote" when talking of the remote locking/unlocking device. I recall the Americans using RC for that device, which even is shorter than fob.
