Default Condenser for Bosch JFUR4

We were ready for the off the other day when, while I was putting on my seat belt, the engine died. Just stopped. Cranked ok, petrol smell ok, but no starting.

Checked the usual suspects and no spark at the points which although oldish have been trouble free. So, I'm down to the condenser just packing up. It too is quite old and probably past it's sell by date.

I therefore need a condenser but the trouble I'm having getting one that's the same as the one coming out. The dizzy is a Bosch JFUR4 0231146077 which may or may not be right for the B20 in the car. I've found one on ebay that looks as if it matches but the vendor says it won't fit. It's a Bosch 33510. The plastic mount block is white with a round profile to fit the hole in the dizzy. Bosch reckon I need their 33630 but it's block is black with a square section. I know colour is not important but it does seem to identify the unit. Has anyone got a matching condenser please?

Can't load photos at present.

From memory the 077 dizzy is for a B20A single carb. 078 is for a B20B twin carb.
I have a B20B which still has the round hole for the condenser insulator (black) to pass through. I went to GSF, though their new condenser had the square (black) insulator. I bought it and carefully trimmed the square insulator to fit the round hole. GSF item is not Bosch though, it is a pattern part.My Haynes manual gives the condenser capacitance as 0.23 to 0.32mF for all B18 and B20 engines.
Mine runs fine with "the square peg in a round hole" I just cannot remember who sang it.

Cheers guys for the responses. Yes of course Simon at Brookhouse but not on the Amazon page. This is on the 140/164 page 9th item down B243013?

That looks exactly like mine so may get one to find out. I too contemplated trimming a square one to fit the round hole if push came to shove! My engine tells me it's a B20E but without fuel injection and that unit says it's for a B20E. Like yours Volvo 133 the 077 dizzy has worked without issue so loathe to change it at the moment. I MAY be considering 123 electronic at some stage - turncoat I hear you call!!

I've ordered the one off ebay to try anyway. Will report back on receipt.

Robert - is that your car on FB at St.Andrews?
