Weird Indicator Problem
I have a problem with the left indicator. It flashes but so do all the other lights, but out of phase with the indicator i.e. when indicator is on, other lights are out and vice-versa, that includes all lights at the rear except the RH indicator bulb.
I also hear a clicking in sync with the indicator. This is coming from around the fuse panel. Sounds like a relay. RH indicator works fine. No clicking from the rear fuse panel. When I switch the ignition off I sometimes get a message saying Rear 12V Socket in Use. My initial though was that it's a short but I've checked the wiring and it all looks OK. The clicking points to a relay. Any thoughts? Car is XC70 2004 |

I just had exactly the same on my mates Peugeot before I took it for its MOT.
Deffo earth fault. The earth pin had corroded in the multiplug. I ended up running in a separate earth wire from a good body point as close as I could find to the metal earth bar behind the light cluster. I just wedged a spade connector behind it but for the long term you could solder I guess. Its worth a try just getting a spare bit of wire and with someone holding it to a GOOD earth point touch the other end on the earth bar behind he light cluster. |

Yes it was an earthing problem. The bolt connecting the earth wire to the body at the back needed tightening.
Many thanks to you all for your advice. Mike Brogan |
