Default 940 2.0 with 740 head

Hello

I've purchased 1988 740 2.0 manual for my 14 year old grandson to enjoy.
Bought as non runner, after removing engine number 1 cylinder has bent rod , crankshaft locked up on mains.
I'm struggling to find 740 2.0 engine . Plenty of 940 b200 about
Is it possible fit 740 2.0 head on 940 b200 bottom end ?

Many thanks in advance

The red block heads and bottom ends are more or less interchangeable, you should be able to swap bottom and top ends between B200 and B230 motors.

I'm guessing you want to put the head you have on in order to keep the same fuel system the motor car has now (it probably has either K-Jetronic or a CDUS carburettor) - that would be sensible as integrating a different fuel system with the motor car would be difficult. Later 240 engines would be okay as well.

Good fortune,

Alan

PS. I'll send you a PM with an idea.

... now that sounds like the perfect solution, and yet again demonstrates the value of this excellent Volvo forum.
