Default 2012 D3 Engine V 2013 D4 Engine

So I was in my local dealership today as I am thinking about moving away from my 2007 S40. I was looking at an XC60.

One car that was in stock was a XC60 R-Design AWD D3. The dealer was offering a good price on it as this was a 2012 model registered in 2013.

Some questions:
- I cannot find the 2012 Engine Specifications for the XC60 D3 AWD. What is the difference between it and the D4 AWD engine available in the 2013 models

- Is there any concerns that I should have around a 2012 spec'd car with a 2013 registration. I can think of private resale and having to explain this to a new buyer. Would there be anything else? This is a more general question but look for some advice from my fellow Volvo owners

Thanks,

D

I would check the actual factory build date and import date, which the dealer will be able to tell you - it would be possible for the car to have been built in the second half of 2011 ie 18 months old already.
There is only a small chance of it being that old, but definitely worth checking as it would give you a big bargaining tool, and if it's been stood for over a year, it could probably do with more of a service than a PDI!
