Default Brakes are rock hard in the morning on 2009 V70

Hey mates,

Long time Volvo user (had almost all the models), short time Volvo forum user

I recently bought a 2009 2.0 Diesel Volvo V70 from the Netherlands. The car is in great shape, 120.000 km on the dash and no problems, until last morning. I parked my car in the evening with the Electric hand brake ON, in the morning, I started the car, released the hand brake, and started to get out of the parking spot. When I tried to brake, the brake pedal was rock solid and almost didn't stop the car. I reversed back, and started to fiddle with the OFF/ON button of the hand brake. After 20 tries, the pedal instantly became elastic again, and I could go about my day, as nothing happened. I made over 400 kms from then and no problems. I went to my Volvo dealer, and they haven't heard of this problem until now. We checked the car on the computer, and nothing appeared. The pads are ok, and it wasn't a cold night for anything to freeze over.

Has anyone heard of something similar? What could be the problem? My dealer wasn't of any help....

Sounds like a loss of servo assistance....

The 2.0D has an engine driven vacuum pump, a vacuum pipe and a servo. A fault or leak with either of these would cause your problem.
