Default Resetting Service light

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the method of resetting the service light on my newly purchased 1998 S40 1.8. I have tried (and failed) using two methods, one was to turn to KP1 hold down odometer reset, turn to KP2 hold until service light flashes (does not start to flash). The other method was to hold down odometer reset and turn to KP2 and hold for 30 seconds. Neither of these work for me. Please help.

I've tried starting the car while holding down the odometer reset button and this doesn't seem to work either. Any other ideas anyone?
