Default 940 cut out problem

Just wondering if anyone can help me work this one out as it is baffling me.
My 940 drives perfectly (except for sometimes being a little sluggish at high speed), however, on starting she will immediately cut out unless you give her a few revs. Usually kicking the revs up to around 3000 then releasing works.
I suspected an air leak but cannot find one.
I don't think this has anything to do with it, but she has just had new plugs, leads, oil, oil filter, air filter and power steering belt in the last week. (I did, due to financial problems, use cheap oil. Not sure if this makes a difference).
She's a B230FB if that makes any difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Craig

Have you checked the usual suspects - cleaned the throttle body & idle air valve, checked the distributor?
How's the fuel consumption? Does the lambda light come on - if so what codes?
Also suggest you see the 900 FAQ, Engine Tune and Performance; Symptoms etc.

Ok, i will try the throttle body today, not sure where the idle air valve is???
Distributor is fine, fuel consumption is surprisingly good.
The lambda light flickers briefly when the revs start to drop but i don't know how to get the codes. (???)

Thanks for your help.

I think it's described in the FAQ. Failing that suggest you get yourself a Haynes 940 manual; cheap 2nd hand ones quite often on ebay. It's a useful thing to have.
BTW the idle valve is a cylindrical thing which lives under the throttle body.
All the best,

I had cutting out problems on my 940 and after fuel filters, distrubutor caps, leads, plugs, crank sensor, fuel relay. I found the fault to be the ignition amplifier attached to the NS inner wing.
It would drive for about 30-40 minutes and start to misfire then die completley ,then after a while behave itself.
I went to the scrappy and got 2 second hand ones as they aren't cheap new.
Worth a try.
