Yeh, my last few cars have been bought at around 3 years old in the £10-15k range on a partial loan that I've kept them for 3 years and I've paid off completely, using the car as trade in for the next. Obviously this VW isn't going to last the 3 years, so I need to get as much money back as I can, which may mean a private sale rather than trade in. That's the thing that's likely to dictate whether this happens or not.
The Volvo is the first I've not actively wanted to get rid of (got fed up with!), so the hope is that a new / nearly new Volvo would "last" longer, as long as it's spec'd enough that I'm not going to get irritated with it. So yes, a few months old high spec D5 would be of more interest than a new lower spec. |

We have a Golden Retriever than travels all the time in the V40 (2013). Had the dog since she was 9 weeks old and now about 7 months old.
Although the V40 is not yet to small for her, I think it will be once she's fully grown. Another problem is the slope of the rear window and it's size as it lets in A LOT of sunlight and therefor heating up the rear quite quickly. We will be looking at the V60 next time round.

I had Holly (see avatar pic) in the back of a V60 and it was rather cramped for her. Labs aren't really that much smaller than Rotties in height and length, so I imagine your dog would be cramped to!
I will try and repost pictures at some point. |

why not take your Lab along for a test drive - surely the best way to be sure? If the dealer wants a sale they should be more than happy to oblige.
(I recall my dad doing this when looking at a new Crapi, yes along time ago, dealer was more than happy to have muddy Lab in the showroom car if it was to clinch the sale) |

I took plates and containers along with Uncle Bens rice to Currys to see if the microwave was suitable in size!! (much to my wife saying ''you can't do that'') Ended up that the microwave we were considering could not take an Uncle Bens rice standing up nor one of our microwave bowls - so we bought an alternative. My Vizsla fits ok, taller than a Lab, and lays down on long journeys fine.
