Default Clutch pedal on the floor

Ok so can I get some help from the experts on the forum please.

My V70 D5 clutch pedal is on the floor and won’t come back up. So my question is could this be the master cylinder or is it almost certainly the slave cylinder? If it is the master cylinder how easy are they to replace?
The car is a 57 plate with 160k miles and I don’t think the clutch has ever been replaced (if it has I have no record of it anyway). Before this happened the clutch still had a nice bite point. I had noticed around 2 weeks prior to this that the clutch pedal had become a little ‘sticky’ and not nice and smooth like before between gear changes.

Thanks for any help

Its usually the slave cylinder, indicated by a weep of fluid from the bottom of where the gearbox meets the engine.

May be possible to bring it back to life by doing a "reverse" bleed at the slave cylinder bleed screw. There are people who've nursed the car along like this for months while they save up for the job to be done properply.

Get one of those oil cans with a spout and a thumb pump, fill with brake fluid and connect some tubing from the oil can, to the bleed valve of the slave cylinder. Open the valve and start pumping.

This will send fluid back up through the system into the brake master cylinder (you'll see the level go up).
