Anti Skid Service Required
Hello All,
I brought my 2007 Volvo S40 2.0D SE SPORT on the 29th September 2009 from a Volvo main dealer. I got the remaining balance of the manufacturers warranty plus a 12 month extended warranty which expires on 29th September 2010 (in a couple of weeks) I have no issues with the car apart frok yesterday when I started the engine and a ANTI SKID SERVICE REQUIRED message appeared and the DTSC warning light is constantly illuminated. I rang volvo and they have booked the car in for 28th September. The technician's tone of voice told me that this is a common problem. Will any work to correct this problems be covered on the warranty? Thanks in advance. |

You lucky man
Over a grand to get it fixed out of warranty at a main dealer - good news that you have that extended warranty - sleep easy. Homer |

brake control module
This 'anti skid service required' is a manufacturing fault, and make sure they do not just reset the codes but put it to them that its the brake control module and it needs replaced. I got mine replaced out of warranty as this is a common fault. Hope this helps you

Went to look at an 2.0D S40 SE today at a none volvo dealership, 70K on the clock and agreed £6100, it's showing the anti skid service required though, they have said they will get it fixed, although have a feeling they aren't expecting to have to spend a grand on it...

Update
Hello All,
Just an update. My car went in at Volvo dealer yesterday morning at 8am. They rang me at 4pm yesterday and told me that its some sort of ABS module/computer? Cost for the replacement part is £1200.00. I also aksed them to look at the car when its idle, it feels like its not running smoothly, choking and spluttering. Although went I rev the engine its fine, it did not seem to affect the performance. The dealer advised me that an injector has gone wrong. Appearently these a £300.00 per injector and I was advised that if you replace one you need to replace all 8 of them otherwise a few months later they go wrong again. Blimey!!! |
