Default Throttle response in 163bhp 2.4 D

Hi All,

Had my 2005 XC90 for just over a month. It's used mainly for short urban runs.

On a couple of occasions this week I have found the throttle response to be stuck at 20mph with foot to the floor even if I kick down (auto gearbox) with revs reaching 2500 and the engine roaring, particularly on a slight incline. A few minutes later the engine responds normally.
The temperature in the mornings has been between 5 and 10 deg C.

Is this a diesel engine characteristic or is it a sign of something wrong?

Thanks

I would say lack of vacuum to control the turbocharger for what ever reason . Possibly leaking from the engine mountings for example?

Did you get an error message saying "Engine Service Required"? If so, similar to my experience too. I get the message and then get the 2500rpm limit which I took to mean limp mode. I needed to turn off the engine and restart to get full power back, and then I could drive normally.
My saga can be read here...
