Volvo P1800ES - for parts or restoration
Volvo P1800ES (1972). Vehicle is suitable for restoration (with fairly minimal work I think for an MOT), or as a donor vehicle for many excellent parts.
This vehicle is listed on eBay here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=tab%3DSelling and you may either bid there, or contact me directly at: simonperry AT operamail DOT com Price: I am looking for between £450 and £1000 (negotiable, but toward the higher price range I will include the car cover if wanted - see below) Vehicle details: - starting with the bad news: Windscreen, passenger front window, and both side rear windows are missing. Rear glass hatch not on car, but have stored. Some rust along bottom of both door skins. Rust bubble at top of pillar passenger side bordering windscreen. A Volvo restorer tells me this is generally due to an impurity introduced by the manufacturer's welding process that bubbles from the inside out - needs cutting and welding. - now the good news. Engine starts are runs very smoothly. When last driven (2+ years ago) motor, gearbox and diff' all ran smoothly at all speeds. Engine blows no smoke and starts first crank. Sills have had some rust in them previously, which has been professionally repaired for MOT purposes. The interior is fantastic. The rear seats look ex-factory, the front seats have no splits, with some wear in the colour (black) of the covering. The dash is perfect with zero splits. Stainless steel exhaust from manifold back. All original miscellaneous parts you would expect from wheels (with tyres) to the radio, including a charged battery. Everything except the aforementioned windows. There is also a heavy duty car cover which may be included - see below for details. Vehicle has no MOT and is sold "AS-IS" If you bought this car to get back on the road you need: - some windows (most likely sourced from a friendly contact at the UK Volvo Owner's club) - fix an oil leak that is coming from the pipe that goes to the oil pressure gauge. It is dripping on the exhaust manifold - it doesn't leak much oil but it does look dramatically smoky as the oil boils away on the hot manifold - misc' fixes as requireed If you bought this car for spares you'd get: - a motor and drivetrain in excellent condition - everything else under the bonnet - 3 year old radiator - stainless steel exhaust from manifold to twin chromed outlets - a perfect dash. Rear seat and side panels look ex-factory. All instruments and warning lights working except for clock, which is not running (probably loose connection behind). Two front seats in very good condition. Excellent door liners with original pockets. Original centre console with untorn gear lever rubber, and locking coin box. Original steering wheel in good condition. If have a running car you want to do up then this is worth the interior alone. - 5 original wheels, with tyres - the original leather luggage straps - everything that lights up, blinks, toots, starts, steers and stops it. NB: Will not "break" car...needs to go as one unit due to time constraint. BUT WAIT....THERE'S ALSO MORE.... The car is currently stored under a heavy-duty folding car cover. Like this one here: http://www.foldinggarages.co.uk/carfoldinggarages.htm The same cover is sold new for £497. The cover's galvanised frame is in perfect condition, while the heavy duty nylon cover is showing the wear of a years outside. The cover does not however leak, and has no splits or large tears except for areas which are manufactured with multiple layers of material i.e. the manufacturer expected the material to split a little at certain places and catered for that eventuality in the design, and that's just where it has indeed split a little. If you would like to make a bid for the car and the cover together (which means you have something to park the car under in your driveway) then contact me directly to discuss. Now the "gotcha". VEHICLE MUST GO FROM MY DRIVEWAY BY OCTOBER 7TH. You will need a flatbed to remove (Berkshire). Note: The car cover disassembles and will fit inside the vehicle.
