Exactly what models have the official R title?

I have been looking at the V70R as a future purchase when I discovered the S60R and although a completely different model and shape I love the understated sleeper looks,a real wolf in sheets clothing.It got me thinking apart from the V60 polestar and the 40 odd grand stopping me getting one is there any other R models or performance Volvos.
I want a Volvo that will surprise all the Volvo haters out there that think they are for old men with pipes and socks and sandals.
Is it just the ones I mentioned or is there any more that are 250bhp and up?

Primarily the S60R and V70r models are the models most people think of when referring to an R, although it started with the 850 t5.

Consider T5's as well as the R models (much more choice and less costly). Depends on your budget but the older Phase 1 V70 2.3 T5 (the last of the 'original' T5 engines) is a properly quick car with 240bhp as standard. Alternatively, a V50 with the newer 2.5 T5 engine (as used in Focus ST) is good but, without some tweaking, doesn't have the hyper drive feel of the older 2.3 T5's. 217bhp standard but easily tunable to 250bhp and upwards. Love mine.

Genuine 'R' models are;

850R of the 90's
V70R phase 1 (late 90's)
S70R saloon version of the above
V70R phase 2 (mid 2000's) - newer style of Volvo
S60R saloon version of the above

The T5-R was the first front wheel drive R, the T4 is also worth mentioning.

Yep T4............................... mines a T reg and once again kicked arse on my way to and from Skeggy on Saturday ! Remove all badging from front and rear , then watch the look on their faces as you rush past in your 'old' car and they wonder just what it is , lol.
