Default Deck error?!!

Hi.
My 6 disc changer is showing 'deck error'.

Any ideas as to the problem? Will this be a dealer fix? Car is V50 2005.

Thanks in advance!

Handing over £630 to the dealer for an exchange unit fixed mine.

If you are electronically savvy you can buy one off eBay and swap parts but its not for the beginner.

There is someone on here who will do it for you but I don't recall who. He will be along shortly.

Thanks, Metblackrat.
Blimey that's steep! What sort of warranty came with the new unit?
Is it easy to take out I wonder? I would give it a go but would need to know how to do it first!!
I guess I could use one of those fm tuner things for the ipod instead.
Have got 3 cd's stuck in the damn thing!
The radio works fine.

12 months on the new unit. Due to the potential to damage parts, I left the dealer to do it. New units have to be coded to the car too.

I guess that's why it's so pricey. I can understand why you left it to them.

It makes you wonder how they justify their costs.
