quote from carpages (http://www.carpages.co.uk/volvo/volv...0-09-08-08.asp) that uses EurotaxGlass guide and 60000 miles, rather than 36000
Based on a three year/20,000 mile per annum profile CAP estimates that both the Volvo XC60 163bhp 2.4D and 185bhp D5 SE models will achieve a trade value of 45% of their original cost new price. This equates to £11,675 and £12,100 respectively. EurotaxGlass’s also predicts the Volvo XC60 2.4D SE will retain 46% of its cost new price over a three year/60,000 mile period and estimates a 47% residual value for the D5 SE, at £12,450 |

If thats the case, I glad I got a good discount from the list price...Thats circa £500 a month depreciation...!!!
Like I said before, I have not brought brand new before, so the losses seem huge.... I brought my Q7 at two years old, and sold it 14 months later for only £900 less. It would have been a fantastic car to own if had not cost me a fortune in repair bills during that year...

I would think AutoTrader is a better reflection of true residuals.
For Exacmple... 2011 MY XC90 D5 Executive. List Price : £42,455 Cost Price : £34,000 (including sunroof, RSE, TV, Window Tint, IR windscreen, running boards, Bluetooth) 2007 Autotrader Price : £21,000 - £24,000 So I can expect to lose £10,000 over the next 3 years, compared to £22,000 had I walked in and paid list price. Do Dealers sell ANY of these cars at or near list price? On the other hand, there is a 2010 XC90 Executive (4,000 miles), with Rear Seat Entertainment listed for £36,690. Does this mean I can make £3,000 profit if I sell it before the end of the year? |

It appears that there is a possiblity of making a small profiet if you sell a new car very quickly after taking delivery, I could make a tidy sum if I sell to webuyanycar.com. Also tollbar volvo has an identical xc60 to mine but on a 59 plate and they are asking £3000 more than I paid for a 2010 reg.
Guess they are hoping that someone who does not want to wait 12 weeks for their next car... Also maybe an indication that the large dealer discounts maybe coming to an end...?

yeah i had been thinking about that. I reckon i could make 3-5k on mine if i sold straight away!
but then it's only any good if you can buy a replacement quite cheaply. think i'll just keep mine! |

It's a little tempting, but I've washed mine today and she's looking hot on the driveway...! And not sure I'd be able to wait 12 weeks, it was bad enough waiting 3 weeks for the one I have...

So it looks like some dealers are accepting MY11 orders for XC90's and some aren't until the official release?
According to Volvo customer services (today) the new info won't be out until mid April. |

Great, LRS, that you were the lucky guy to see the communication about the XC90 MY2011, but could you share it with the rest of us, please? (spec changes in particular...)
