1971 142E Hazard / turn relay location
New member here; just acquired IPD founder’s 1971 142E development car; while generally well-sorted, hazard / turn relay needs to be replaced. Haven’t been able to find either the part number or its location.
Thank you for any guidance ! |

Hi 'Jacques1960'. It is now a very long time since I had anything to do with the 1 series cars, but reference to my Haynes manual gives the following information.
"In many models the direction indicators can be used as simultaneous emergency warning flashers at the push of a switch. In models with the ribbon type speedometer this switch will be found, if fitted, above and between the cigarette lighter and the fan switch. Incorporated with the switch is the flasher relay and the whole assembly is a click fit in the dashboard, removable from the rear." In quoting the above, I'm making the basic assumption that US spec cars had the same arrangement as UK models. I'm afraid that it doesn't give a part number. I hope this is of some assistance to you. Regards, John.

If needed, I can post a picture. In the absence of a picture, the heater fan switch, cigarette lighter and the hazard switch form a triangle just to the left of the heater / ventilation controls. The fan switch is bottom left of triangle, the cigarette lighter is bottom right of the triangle and the hazard flasher switch is at the vertex of the triangle. |
