Deepdale motors
Hi all,
Just a word of warning. I've had a very bad experience buying from these dealers: Deepdale Motors Sir Tom Finney Way Fulwood Preston Lancs PR2 8AN. They sold me what I've been told by my body shop, is a crashed and repaired car. If you want anymore details, PM me. Thanks, Rob |

Didn't you see an HPI report before buying? There are insurance categories that can be repaired and the car is as good as new so whilst I can understand your disappointment if you can find out what the repairs were it may settle your mind.

Sorry to hear about your experience Rob, but people on this Forum may be guarded about giving an opinion (I did once before but the OP did not tell us the whole story and the thread dragged on somewhat until the truth came out!!) Deepdale Motors have this on their website:
A copy of Experian/HPI check is handed over to the customer on delivery of every car. Assuming of course this is the dealer in question: http://www.deepdalemotorco.co.uk/ so did you get a copy of the HPI check? I agree with Clive, There are insurance categories that can be repaired and the car is as good as new so whilst I can understand your disappointment if you can find out what the repairs were it may settle your mind. You could also ask the previous owner and Deepdale Motors exactly what the damage was and who repaired it. If you think the car repair is unsafe then report Deepdale Motors and the body shop that repaired the car to trading standards.

Thanks for the replies...
The car was sold to me as, and I quote "Bob on"... It was only later that I discovered it had been involved in a drivers side three quarter impact. Wing badly "repaired" and noticeably vibrating on tickover (only really visible at night with lights on, when Xenon bulb also showed same symptoms), three wheels damaged and leaking air (still unresolved and I've been to an engineering firm to attempt a repair), a hole in the under body (under drivers seat), drivers side xenon bulb loose in housing. None of these are "life threatening" to the car itself but you don't pay top dollar for a car to discover this type of botch job, not to mention bare faced lies.... To be honest, none of the above issues with the car came to my attention on inspection or test drive and I happily took the car. They'd been cleverly disguised and the car "looked" great on the forecourt. Mechanically the car is sound but I was a very unhappy camper to say the least when I discovered that I'd been had. I sent an email to Deedale Motors with the "news" that the car had been in a frontal impact, and that they must have known about it. They didn't reply. As I only discovered these issues with the car months after taking ownership and had the car back home in Ireland, they have gotten away with this. Just be aware that as far as I'm concerned, I was lied to by the nicest man in the world.. Rob PS: I honestly don't remember anything about the HPI cert. |

By the sounds of the damage there should have been an HPI check done as it may have been an insurance write-off or very close to it. Did you get an RAC or AA check? Always advisable if you are paying out a lot of money and the garage did say they "welcomed AA and RAC checks".
Okay, you may be on a sticky wicket but my advice is to contact the nearest Trading Standards office to the garage and tell them the sorry tale. If Trading Standards are on your side then get an estimate to carry out re-repairs to the car to rectify all the faults that are identified. The next bit you can do yourself or it might be better to employ a solicitor, depending on how aggrieved you are (and of course how much you can afford), take the garage to the Small Claims Court for the sum it would cost to bring the car up to an acceptable standard. The garage will ignore all direct contact from you but they should not ignore a solicitor's letter or a letter from the Court, at the same time you could ask for your money back. If Trading Standards say they can't help then you are stuck with it unless others have some advice. That's my 2 penny worth, others may have other suggestions........

Thanks Grant A,
I'll make some inquiries with trading standards but as I'm in Ireland things get a little more long winded and expensive. I'm, just happy to inform others of my bad experience and hope others can avoid this kind of trouble. Thanks a mill to all for your replys and support, Rob |

Also,
It's entirely possible that the car was taken in by Deepdale Motors as a damaged vehicle and never recorded in a police or insurance report... Rob |
