That is quite a departure from their usual stock of Rolls and Bentleys. It does look rather nice and would look well alongside quality four wheels.

This is what I would call a nice car, looks correct and unmolested. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304968114...AAAOSwRm5kAIaU

Interesting that it has what appears to be factory aircon mounted in the boot - it was an option for Californian cars, but does take up most of the boot space.

The Rolls/Bentley market obviously isn't what it once was as Richard Biddulph used to be exclusively high end RR/B, now he has diversified into all manner of vehicles. The Volvo 1800ES looks good, but the American spec side marker lights are a little odd and detract from the lines.

Edit: This one, not the baby poo example highlighted previously on the thread.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305367304...Bk9SR_zFxNu-Yw

Hi ITSv40,

Well that is certainly a whole lot of rather graceful motorcar, for less than any new Ford.

I think avoiding the 'popular' sectors such as Ford/MG/Triumph TR's etc. provide endless opportunities for interesting motors at reasonable prices, downside is perhaps less spares backup/availability.

Cheers

Yes, agreed. Although the Rolls/Bentley spares situation is very, very good.
Basically, everything that is needed will be manufactured providing there are sufficient numbers who are prepared to pay the price.

This Bentley topic could be dangerous, just searched for lowest priced Bentley on Car & Classic, £16,999 so £15k cash perhaps???

https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1596396

Also on the dealer website with more photos

Cheers

PS - Just to balance this nonsense, ITSv40 alluded to Flying Spares as a good source of spares for these old things, if you want to scare yourself into seeing common sense, have a quick browse, £385 for brake wheel cylinder !!! I dare dsay there are more eye watering examples....

Yes, indeed. Flying Spares prices are deemed 'reasonable'.

Now you chaps have fired up my latent RR/B desire. I was thinking of a car I saw back in the nineties. I went to the annual club concours and as was usual cars were parked in model order. I duly arrived, parked up and before long the most stunning Silver Cloud drophead parked alongside. You will gather from the enclosed link that it was a car that couldn't be ignored, particularly on a sunny June day. It transpired that it belonged to the brother of the Sultan of Brunei. It also transpired that it had come direct from Rolls following conversion from a standard four door saloon, it being an exact copy of the Mulliner adaptations back in the sixties.

It was truly, truly, stunning in every way and just shows what can be done with unlimited money. As one would expect the craftmanship was perfection in every detail, outstanding, even by R-R standards. The gossip, on good authority, was that the conversion work had cost £300,000. I don't doubt it.

Edit: the Bentley in Steve's link does look nice and what I would expect. The interior would come up well with some love.. The chassis photo's do show it is as rotten as a pear underneath and will need extensive panel work in the near future. Check Flying Spares for panel prices.
