940 2.3Turbo Estate Auto box gone:(
Folks, I have a Volvo 940 2.3 turbo Estate for sale. THE AUTO GEARBOX HAS GONE... It has Mot and tax
Good engine pulls well...It also has 3/4 tank of petrol!! (I filled it up to come from Cornwall but ended up coming home via the AA! Its on an M plate does not have leather and Iv already had the alloys(Replaced wheels with Steelies with not bad tyres). Its a Maroon/burgandy colour. Great car untill gearbox failed. The car is based in reading and I would prefer it all gone £300 or a sensible offer...Feel free to call me for more details 07824375693 Peter

I might be interested in this for the engine, I've got access to a landy and car trailer but I'll need to see a chap about a place to keep it, watch this space.
Out of curiosity, how many miles has it done and is it LPT or HPT? |

Might not be an expensive fix at the right place. My mum had a 240 and had the auto box replaced all in for less than £300, might be worth doing if it's a good car!
BTW it was a Volvo specialist near Blackpool, Jump Leads. |

Hi Wooble, its done 136K miles..so just run in!! I had the gearbox services as it was slipping...ie taking along time to get into gear. Unfortunatly that did not cure the problem and I think the cornwall trip killed it...9Lots of small lanes and fully loaded with the family!! Im not sure what LPT & HPT means! sorry...

LPT/HPT = low or high pressure turbo. I'm not 100% on engine codes but I think that a an LPT engine has the engine code B230FK on the timing belt cover and an HPT has the code B230FT.
I'm going to see a chap I know about storing it on his farm on monday, so if nobody else has laid claim by them I'll be back with a yea or nay answer. |

Right, I've got storage sorted out - can't get the landy and trailer though, so I'll have to come and see it and then arrange transportation through a company if the car fits my needs, I'll give you a ring tomorrow somethie to set stuff up.

Really I have no idea exactly what box is in the 940, my intention was to use the engine as a base for my upcoming 16v turbo project in my 240 and part out the rest, I'll have a look at the box and see if it can be fixed to turn a quick profit selling it but I'll not know any more till I see it.
Don't think the 850 box would work though due to it being FWD. |
