Undid the two 8mm bolts that hold the metal guide in place, put car in 1st gear with engine running. Moved metal guide snug against the white plastic reverse lockout and tightened bolts. Because I gathered that this is where the issue was, and it needed to be guided snugly into 1st.

Took me a few attempts to make it perfect but I got there, ended up moving it off the white guide a fraction just to help with any movement. Greased it all up and away we went.

Happy days. Thanks guys for the advice, much appreciated as always.
You haven't cured the cause of the fault though, the plastic bushes in the bottom of the gearlever are worn, easy to change just undo an allen screw and pull the pin out , access from under the car... IT will take some sloppy movement out.

The bushes are easy to change and cheap enough https://www.classicswede.org/shop/ge...r-linkage-bush

It's mainly when going into 1st from neutral chap. It's slipped back to being difficult again after I adjusted it. So I've ordered the plastic bushes, so will hopefully feel the benefit.

Quick edit. I have just been out in it, and yes Dai you're right, when going from 2nd to 1st it's smooth. But surely every time I'm starting from a standstill I don't have to put it into 2nd to go into 1st haha

I found in my first 360 that it didn't like to go in to first or reverse unless I put it in 2nd first.
