Default Diesel Particle Pressure Sensor

Hi folks,

I wanted to let you all know that having had the dreaded Engine System Service Required message, I took the car to my local Volvo dealer and discovered it was a faulty Diesel Particle Pressure Sensor. The part was replaced under warranty and would have cost £90 plus just over an hours labour and the VAT, so somewhere in the region of £180-£200 to get it repaired. If anyone else has the same problem, the car goes in and out of limp mode at times and the message will go off sometimes after the car has warmed up.

Sounds exactly the same as the problem I had shortly after buying the car, except that mine was associated with a temperature sensor. The code was ECM-2AB0 & had 2 associated codes for particulate filter temp too high, ECM-2A10 & ECM-2AA0.
The sensor was £89, the dealer said he had never sold one before. It was easy to fit & the fault message cleared after a short drive.

This problem is quite common on the later models ... he should have cleared the codes before letting you have the car back too then you wouldnt have to wait for the message to clear , the code will still be there stored making future diagnosis unreliable because anyone reading them will think you have an intermittant fault with the particle filter temperature sensor !

In fairness I took the car away and fixed it myself. I have since cleared the codes with a ppc. The only code I get now is from a faulty glow plug, but it doesn't cause a message or effect starting.

Default Diesel Particulate Temperature Sensor

Further to your post ref 2A10 fault code. I replaced the temp sensor today on my 06 V70 SE D5 and the fault still will not clear, still in limp mode. Can you tell me which one you had fixed as apparently there are 2. One near the lambda sensor and one to the rear of the middle box (I think) on the exhaust. The one I replaced was the one at the back and it appears to have made no change whatsoever.

Thanks for your help.
