Default abs warning

hello all newbie here I've signed up in the hope someone has come across a problem iam having, when it rains i get an abs brake fault appear on the dash sometimes its activated by just starting the car without even moving iam thinking its got something to do with water causing the problem as causing a short or something if anyone can help thank you

Hi, do you have any water in the footwell? Feel under the carpets as well. Not sure your model/year but some earlier models were subject to water ingress through the scittle and into the CEM, the main module behind the drivers footwell panel. You could remove this panel and inspect the connectors.

In my experience, this problem is down to reluctor rings on the front. One of mine was obviously cracked, but that does not account for the error before moving at start up.

The other problem I know cause all sorts of unexplained errors is a weak battery or poor battery connections.

+1 for ABS reluctor rings

Checking them is a good place to start.

thanks for the quick response I have a 2007 xc90 i have checked the usual culprits i.e. battery, yaw sensor thanks for the advice on CEM and reluctor rings will check and update
