Default Side steps

Does anyone know if genuine Volvo side steps from a 53reg XC will fit my 2007 model?

Also, are these things an easy enough DIY fit...just sockets, ratchet etc?

Sidesteps are the same for all MY's.

It's a very easy job, remove the 4 bolts on each side and fit the steps with the longer bolts supplied. It is usefull to have an extra pair of hands as the steps are quite heavy

Also :

As Ron says - they're quite straight forward to fit -
When purchasing new side steps they come with new longer bolts to extend through the side steps.

Original bolts used to secure pars of the lower suspension are removed,
and then the longer bolts are fitted in their place.

As discussed in a different thread, ( appreciate it wouldn't be your responsibility ),
but mention to whoever owns the car that the side steps are being taken from,
that the original 4 bolts MUST be replaced, as some of them secure parts of the lower suspension to the chassis.

It is not unknown for the original bolts to be a) Not supplied if new car ordered with side steps,
and b) Original bolts misplaced if side steps were bought as after marekt add on,
as the fitting instructions say to "place them to one side - they will not be re-used" - See attachment.

If the car is still going to be used, the original bolts ( or replacements from a Volvo delaer ) MUST be replaced.

Very good point, keep the original bolts somewhere safe, that if you come to sell the car and want to remove the side steps, you can fit the original bolts back

just beware if you buy a used XC90 without the steps....

the guy i bought my side steps from (on ebay) flogged his XC90 privately, but because the buyer wouldn't pay another few hundred (on a £20k motor) removed the side steps and ebayed them. he removed the steps and long bolts, but didn't bother replacing the bolts with the shorter ones.
