Default Vida dice ?

Got a 1999 phase 1 v40 is it worthwhile getting a Vida dice for this car. If so will it let me change anything or just show fault codes. The cars a minter and hope to keep it quite a few years, l've always done all my own servicing but never had to bother with car electronics before, more used to Volvo bus and hgv vehicles. Unfortunately all my code readers and my laptop diagnostic gear for them doesn't work with the v40.

As far as I know VIDA Dice is only used since P2 models. P1 models should be read by most universal readers. Except with the diesels, there is something about P1 diesels not being OBDII compliant. You'll have to wait for the diesel owners, not sure what they use.

IIRC the common one is a cloned E-bay one but which?
And i seem to remember that Renault come into it as the source of the motor, i might be confused too
