S40 (new) 2.0D Filled car with Petrol

Requiring advice, i filled my diesel s40 with petrol by mistake (unfamilar pumps) and drove the car less than 1 mile. Before it started to splutter and cough.My mechanic said that i had to empty the tank and refill with diesel of course and engine will restart are turning over.

Are there anything else i should be doing?

ps i feel really dumb?

Siphon out as much as you can and re-fill with diesel. Of course you'll need a few cans and I'm not sure what you should do with it........
