XC60 Active 'Bending' Headlamps
I have been zooming around the country in my shiny, new XC60 and am mightily impressed by the comfort, speed and ease of driving. The new D5 and 6 Speed Geartronic box is so much better than my old '04 v70.
I have had a strange thing happen a few times and I wonder if anyone else has seen it, or can suggest a remedy, as currently we are all stuck (dealer included) When I go around a left hand bend towards my house which is on a downhill the ABL warning comes up on the dash and tells me that there is a headlamp failure, this clears itself when I turn right into my house! The same happened last night when leaving the M6 onto the M62 where I was doing around 60 going around a tightish left hand bend, and this time I had re-enable the ABL as it had switched itself off in the menu system. Any ideas - there is no error shown in the system and I am wondering if there is a limit stop on the gyroscope (or however it tells where you are going) that has failed, or has not been set correctly. isnt ABL active brake light ? just been browsing Volvo site on features and equipment. It kicks in if you have to a quick eratic brake manoevre. perhaps the downhill bend causes the activation due braking ?

maybe that I have used the wrong TLA
If I have, my aplogies, this issue is definelty realted to the Active Bending Headlights, which I thought were ABL. Any ideas please? The car is going back to Volvo on Friday and they are going to see what can be found, but as yet there are no indiactions that they know what is causing the issues - some pointers from the assembled knowledge would be useful Iain |

UPDATE
Have tried another XC60 in the same locations and there are no errors The central system on my car does show an occasional error on one of the front wheel sensors, and this was replaced, but it has not cured the issue. All wiring has been checked and still no fault found, yet the system still fails - car going back to Volvo next week for them to keep all week, or until they cure the fault (which ever is quickest) Bit dissapointing that a) the fault is on a new car and b) that the cause cannot be found - bonus is that I get to choose what car to borrow when they have mine - any suggestions Iain |
