Default Thinking of selling my amazon

What is a reasonable price for a 1969 volvo 122s in average condition apart from the head gasket needing replacing?

History?

Mileage?

Several hundred pounds less than what it would be than if you spent £40-ish on a gasket set and fixed it.

Define "average"................

Think you'd need to give a bit more detail than 'average' condition before anyone could help you I'm afraid.

The 'average' 1969 car was scrapped 30 years ago!

Does it have an MOT? What's the bodywork like? The interior? Any history with it? How does it drive, or at least how did it drive before the HG failure?

Photos would be good too, if you can manage it.

A head gasket isn't likely to be a major issue on an Amazon, it's unlikely to have damaged the engine as much as it can on a modern unit with an alloy head, and even if it has, engines are comparatively cheap and easy to replace, but if there's serious bodywork rot then it's a different matter.

As a very rough guide, a basket case is worth maybe £300, a scruffy MOTd runner maybe £1500, a nice one is £3k and really nice ones can go for £5k+.

Hi pictures would be a good start,Maybe moosejaw could post some of the 1969 122s that he sold back in july 2010,Just so we can see what a really nice one looks like?

Now that was a really nice car and well worth the money.I remember congratulating him on it's mot at the time.

Come to think of it Darvey bought one at about the same time?same year same colour?

Couldn't possibly be the same car could it?
I could be well interested in this myself. if it was like the one moosejaw sold I would be happy even with the headgasket problem.

Regards Brian.

Thanks moosejaw just call me the detective Lol.
Really liking your old car.not sure it's possible for me at the moment due to keeping three other cars on the road.
But I will keep an eye on the proceedings just in case.
Regards Brian.

Oops! I'd turned off PMs because I was getting mild abuse from some twunt after I commented on a car he was trying to sell.....
Should be fine now if you want to try again.

I hope Dave comes back on and lets us know how he's got on with the car, apart from its HG issue.
It wasn't a pristine example by any means but it was solid and drove really well. I had a lot of fun with it.
