There's probably a very logical reason for this but does anyone know why Volvo never offered a diesel version of the T8 it would make sense fuel consumption wise

Volvo is a prominent member of the virtue signalling cult , and diesel is considered a "satan fuel"
People think if they dont use diesel themselves it isnt needed for trucks to stock the supermarkets . But the irony is that the real "sulphuric" stench is above davos and in the breath of justin castreau , the special friend of the canadian truckers |

Well like i said above there must be some logic by only offering petrol plug ins but the T8 is heavy on fuel when the battery runs out. I am a lorry driver and for the life of me cannot think of a reason how electric lorries would work .But then again we were told to move to diesel a few years ago and hiked the VED on petrols only to be told the total opposite when many people made the switch .I wonder if anyone as retrofitted a diesel to a T8

Every engine (petrol/diesel) will benefit from using electric generators to optimize load in optimum rpm/loads of the engine under the premise that enough city driving is in the mix, otherwise it wont benefit much.
My previous comment on volvo was true.... they stopped producing diesel engines with virtue signalling in mind (not only hybrids). But virtue signalling can be used for branding and attract a certain kind of customer , so in the end it can make some profit (or backfiring) Diesel engines have the stigma to be polluting, but they are very clean nowadays. Gasoline engines are producing more particulate matter than ever due to direct injecton and in particular the smallest (more harmful) particulates (direct injection have less time to mix gasoline and air). In fact diesel and gasoline engines are becoming more alike , diesel compression ratios are declining (boost levels up) ,gasoline compression ratios are increasing ((and therefore efficiency)due to direct injection to prevent knock)) Injection pressures are increasing for gasoline injection, turbo charging is more commonly used in gasoline engines , which diesel already did. In fact ,direct injected gasoline turbo engines having almost the same torque development as diesels and driving experience but with more power to displacement ratio. Historicly only diesel had those properties and was therefor used for trucks etc Can we therefore amass abolish diesel engines? hell no! We cant extract only gasoline from crude oil, crude oil is a mixture from many hydro carbons which need to be distilled to make them usable . So if the diesel isnt used from crude oil we have a fuel shortage of epic proportions and enormous fuel prices (and expensive stuf/goods). Because fuel is used for almost every aspect of our modern lifes , fertilizer, plastics, chemicals, industry ,clothings etc. not only transportation. Also diesel isnt flammable under atmosferic pressure and much safer in certain industrial applications So humanity will have the most benefit if every fuel sort is used where it performs best and ALL of the distillates of already pumped up crude oil is used. In the older days those differences where more pronounced than now, but in the end we need all the fuel from the crude fuel out of the ground (also if all the transportation is electrified, which besides all the needed heatpumps the electric grid cant support but thats another discussion. So crude oil will continued to be used ,dont let those spoiled kids (with their vacations on instagram and nylon cloths and plastic phones) from extinction rebellion tell you otherwise , they dont have a clue (the brainwashing on public schools and media with the mantra: repeat repeat repeat then its true, certainly works (for them)). And if crude oil really gets abolished, than it will be back to the stone age (like those creeps in davos want (not for themselves wink, wink). Its all about power and control , chinese style . And if you dont know , who that puppet in the bookcase represent , it starts with an L and ends with enin. The talking testicle in the chair (who grooms many peer pressured ,corrupt ,sellout and sociopath government officials/ career politicians and CEO s of woke multinationals in davos yearly (and more) and even bragged about it that many cabinets over the world where penetrated(is that what you voted for?)) wants that system under a different disguisse (0,04 percent co2 as the only variable of climate "change", not sunspots ,sun distance, vulcanos). endlessly tried before with the same horrific results , and the same corrupt leaders who will be living in shameless luxury like the old communist (seen the enormous building in bucarest of caucescu?while the polulation was surveilled by secret police and had to stand for hours in line for a bit of food) ) did . Not you. Last edited by 5cilinder; Dec 31st, 2023 at 14:21. |
