Default V70 2.5 TDi Sluggish, Help please

Hi, owned a 1999 V70 2.5 tdi ( 5 cyl audi engine I believe) Basically it has an intermittent problem of being very sluggish, more on small inclines on the motorway. The other time I notice it the most is coming home from work. I work in Cirencester but live in Wales, so on the way home I have to stop for the dreaded Severn bridge tolls. The car normally runs fine for the hour it takes to get to the tolls but then after I've stopped and payed and I go to give it abit of juice out the other side it's extremely sluggish.
It'll rev all the way up but it takes a long time until you get up to 5th and it won't really pull over 65/70mph. It almost seems like the turbo's not there or working, almost as if after the constant drive when I stop something is sticking open so when I pull away again the turbo isn't building up any pressure? This is just a guess of mine but it does happen every time.
Any further information, help or solution to this would be greatly appreciated, it's just becoming very frustrating and dangerous wen it comes to overtaking and what not.
Thanks for your time people
John

Wastegate could be a little sticky but unlikely. Sounds more maf or boost leak related to me. Is it smokey when you try and boot it? It could be the boost control valve.

Can you get fault codes read?

No, no smoke. I only get a small puff on a cold start but it is a diesel with 270k on the clock so it's sort of expected. I've arranged to get plugged in tomorrow by a friend. I appreciate the offers though, this is my week off from Cirencester aswell, typical really haha.
I had a quick look on the Audi A6 forum and alot of people have mentioned maf problems but nothing conclusive really. I'll keep you posted though if any break through's are made.
Thanks for your help
