Now this must be the most gorgeous of gorgeous rare Volvos on the planet. http://www.albionmotorcars.com/sold/...ort-p1900-1957

Subject of a write up in the latest issue of Driver magazine and now living locally in Peterborough. Will be good to see it in the flesh at some car events in the future.

Well this one has got your name all over it Andrew, just down the road from you, and even better it's a red one

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/116139295...Bk9SR76I2YvZYw

Pricing, lets just say he's being a tad optimistic???

Cheers

I suspect the (over) optimistic pricing is because it's a red one!

I'd also be concerned as to why it needs a new clutch at only 143k miles, the clutches on 200 series have a reputation for lasting longer than that (i've heard of one that did 250k) and generally hit 200k easily.

As for the price itself, i think £2k would be fairer if it was all up and running without an MoT but even then would be a bit steep.

Perhaps i have a jaundiced view of 200 series prices as they my least favourite RWD Volvo but i have been seeing a drop in general values of them recently.

I ran a 240 to about 230k miles without replacingthe clutch; and the Valdez, with its balky M90 (unable consistently to get either 1st or2nd from rest so having to take off in 3rd) got a new clutch at 220k miles, with the garage reckoning it was still good for 30 or 40k miles.

Regarding clutch life: I had a 360GLT 270,000miles, a V40 370,000miles, 'er indoors Fiesta Mk4 180,000miles. All scrapped due to rust and all three on the original clutches.

Now then... Oh dear the initial enthusiasm wore off quickly, it's in Penzance, too much money, and after a second closer look at MOT history it had corrosion mentioned a few times.

Pity, as I've become rather smitten with my stop gap 940 with 2.3 manual, so much better than my asthmatic Wentworth 2.0 Auto. So a 2.3 non turbo Auto 240 would be rather nice.

Well here might be one for our resident Skeggy Gangster….

https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/auction...pp=48&pn=3&g=1

Spotless MOT history to the last one done in 2018, perhaps the photos of the cills/ underside are a tad worrying.

Got to be worth a look??

Cheers
