Default Centre console overheating

When down to Calais and back the same day, 380 miles round trip and during that time I played a lot of CD's. I was quite surprise to notice that the centre console (ventilation controls and various switches underneath) were getting extremely hot to the point that it was uncomfortable to leave your fingers on these controls for more than a few seconds.

Has anybody here had similar experience ? Because I obviously can't replicate this problem at the dealer as it would involved driving the car for a few hours :-0

Well according to the dealer the panel is illuminated by bulbs, hence the heat dissipation when it has been on for a few hours ..... possible but wonder how other car maker have addressed this ??!!

Well, the last two Audi A6s I had both got very warm when the player was on for a long period of time so I guess they haven't addressed it!

I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets so hot that it could hurt anyone who touches it. My XC90 gets warm but never really hot to the touch.
