S80: Electrical - Silver or Black Headlight surrounds

My 2007 S80 has black surrounds around the headlight. I would like to know when it was changed to silver, and if it's just a facelift, only cosmetic. I think I might like to change my headlights to the silver ones, depending on cost and availability. I'd also like to know if it's possible (or worth it) to change from Halogens to Xenons. I assume that "active/bending" xenons wouldn't be possible unless the car had it as an option, which mine doesn't.

I've got the same on my S80 SE Sport. Quite like them... They were changed for the silver surround on the 08MY.

AFAIK they're just a straight unit swap if you change them like for like ie: H7/H9 black to H7/H9 Silver unit...
