Default '98 V40 Rear Brake Maintenance Questions

I am planning to replace rear discs and pads on my '98 V40 today and just wanted to clarify a couple of things.

I have a Laser piston rewind tool, so winding the pistons back shouldn't be an issue. However when I was researching the procedure on here one member suggested opening the bleed nipple whilst winding the piston back, and someone else said just to remove the reservoir cap. I also read that you should release the handbrake?

Could someone advise me as to exactly which steps I need to take.

Many thanks
Rob

.....yes, people have different ideas.....of course the handbrake should be off so not to grip the disc......it is best to just open the bleed nipple on the caliper your working on so that when you rewind the piston in with the tool the dirty fluid will escape and make it easier to push back also the fluid should not go backwards up into the ABS block otherwise the system can throw a light .......the rubbers in the system are designed to only push the fluid one way......Hope this helps?..

Well my rear brake maintenance has been met with the dreaded wheel locking nut problem. I've recently had new tyres all round and the garage has obviously gunned thye nuts on. The key bites ok when you want to tension the nuts, but skips when you try to loosen them....

I have a friend with an impact wrench who is going to attempt to remove them later, then I shall get a set of normal wheel nuts or better quality locking nuts. Is there a particular taper required for the OEM alloy wheels, or will most aftermarket locking nuts for V40 be ok?

Managed to get the front locknuts off with an air wrench, but it took over an hour to get the rears off with a chisel and an impact socket.... just ordered a new set of non-locking wheelnuts off eBay.. the brakes will have to wait until the morning now.
