850 T-5R - clutch pedal on floor
Had my T-5R out for a spin yesterday. As usual, all was sweet until I was 200yds from home when my clutch pedal hit the floor & wouldn't return up.
Wasn't able to investigate as we were heading out. We're also off on holiday 2mor so unlikely to get a proper look until I'm back. Unlikely to be the clutch itself I think as this has been perfect, so thinking master or slave cylinder. Has this happened to anyone else? Is the master or slave cylinder a common failure? Thanks in advance!

Slave or hose failure. should be external if its still on its original box so any issues should be visible without box removal. ive seen clutch forks bend but i doubt thats the case.
it wont be the master, almost certainly

I'd vote slave cyl too, mine did that with the pedal occasionally before I changed the cyl. You can get the part new from Volvo but they have to order it from the classic parts dept. in Sweden, takes about a week to arrive. Easy to replace, just a hose, circlip then flush and bleed fluid (assuming external like on my '95 model).
Old and new, you can hopefully see part no. on new one but I'll have the receipt if you need more info.

Also...check back along the pipe and hose, especially under the air filter housing plastic bracket, for corrosion/damage.

Sounds like the valve in the master cylinder. It's dead easy to swap the master cylinder out.

I had exactly this happen on my 1996 850 T5, bought a slave and it turned out to be the hydraulic hose under the air filter/battery, fitted both and happy days again...
