Default Volvo XC90 Towbar Witter

Hi all,

Have an issue you all may be able to help with please.

I have purchased a towbar off ebay. Its a witter and mostly appears to fit my volvo. Only issue is now i've slotted it in and out a few times it no longer locks into place.

The small spring pin on top no longer springs upward (just loose and limp) and despite appearing to push the towbar almost 95% in it will no longer lock in place.

The towbar does go 95% of the way in (more than the pictures show but not 100%).

Sorry for the big pictures.

Hi.
Used to have the one like this and it was quite awkward.
If you have the instructions then read them closely as they are a little ambiguous.
If you don’t then they can be downloaded off the Witter page
I think that you need to pull the blue disc out and twist it round. This releases the pin that you mention.
Good luck.
Rob

If you plan to keep the hitch in there for a while then spray some grease around it and the fitting it goes into. Left mine in for a month at the start of *summer* and had to hit it a good few whacks to free it as it had rusted in place.

I spray my hitch and reciver with Duck oil every time I fit it. Duck oil dries and leaves a protective film that dust doesnot stick to so no grinding paste to damage the hitch long term. It is also the best penetrating oil I have found.
