Default Two Second Gears? - T3

Hello,

I am new to the forum as I just bought a MY2018 S60 T3 (B4154T4) with 6 speed AT (AW TF-71 SC) which has only 21.000 KMs - 13.000 miles on the odometer.

I noticed something strange about the car and would like to have your opinion.

When accelerating, the car feels like it has two-second gears. To give you an example;

- Accelerating in first gear and AT shifts into second gear at 2200 rpm,
- Revs drop like a normal gear change to 1900 rpm,
- Car accelerates and revs go up for a second and then drop further to 1700 rpm,
- Acceleration continues and AT shifts into third gear as expected.

This happens only in second gear in in all gearbox modes, i.e. auto, sport and manual, regardless whether the car is cold or hot; and Eco mode is on or not.

I do not think its slip or flare and read that it is a feature for comfort and better mileage.

If this is an error, the car is still under warranty and I can take it to the authorized service for an examination.

I also took a video of the issue:
