Yeah, don't get me wrong, the Polestar is a much better built car than the Tesla, it's just a bit underwhelming in terms of the range. It can be done though even without teslas experience as the Koreans have shown.

hard to credit how good the E Niro seems all round; never read a bad review of it. New Mustang Mach-E is tempting too...

Polestar / Volvo / Geeley need to get hold of a Kia E-niro and try to figure out what they have done to achieve class leading range. I expected better from the CMA platform which was supposedly designed with electrification in mind. Can't see them selling many XC40 recharge BEVs with worse range then the P*2 and a daft starting price.
Er, how can it be a let down when the range is published? Therefore you know exactly what you are getting. 163 official miles suits us. As I said, I’d have liked a Tesla but was not prepared to pay the extra £20k that it would have cost.

E Niro and Kona both have a good range due to a decent sized battery - over 50% more than the MG. However, that’s also reflected in the price at exactly midway between the MG and cheapest Model 3. There are also some safety concerns about the battery they use - with several recorded cases of fire.

I forgot to mention, if you choose to have a home charging unit fitted, I hope the supply cable to it from your home consumer unit can cope. We had to change the cable supplying our garage, so that was another grand when it was all finished. We could have just used the supplied 3 pin plug and charge it from a normal home socket, but it would take 10 hours to give a full charge. Then there is the cable to connect the car to the charging point. There are lots of 'hidden' optional extra's which are really necessities to enable normal use of the car.
Hope you have you got an Economy 7 meter at your home so you can charge it at a much cheaper rate!
I have heard that Tesla extended warranties are even more expensive.
Everything - and transferable to subsequent owners as well.

I’ve been planning this for some time actually and we had an upgrade to the electrics in anticipation. I had a Zappi smart charger installed yesterday. This interacts with my (7 kW) solar PV and existing house battery storage scheme to hopefully mean VERY low cost motoring averaged out over the year. I’m just waiting for a smart meter to be installed which means that I can get power for 5p per kWh for fours hours a night by switching tariff. So the car, the house battery and hot water tank will all fill their boots. So with the solar panels, house battery and smart charger I now have 3 apps on the phone/iPad to look at. He he he ....

I hope it goes well for you Lincolnite. We had our I3 for just over two and a half years. Whilst it was a great car to use and cheap to 'fuel', other costs were horrendous and after thinking long and hard we chose to get rid while the going was good.
Who knows what the future holds and in the long term we will drop to one car, what that will be, we have no idea.

Sorry Lincolnite, I was referring to the Polestar. The ZS is a decent entry into the world of BEVs. A reasonable price, ideal run around.

I’d have a Polestar any day over a dumpy looking Tesla. They really are hideous things. A Polestar 1 would suit me best

Me, If it ever comes to market I'm getting a Citroen Ami. 28mph, 44 mile range. Ideal for 90% of my local runs.
I'll keep my V90 for 'long' distance trips.
