V70: Driver's door won't open from outside

Hello!

The car is: V70 P80 1997 mk1 2.5 TDI

Problem is: When I lock the car with key fob (central locking) and then unlock it again, all the doors and trunk door will open, excluding driver's door, which will only open from the inside. So I have to open passenger's door and reach for the driver's door interior latch to get it open. It's getting really obstructive and I thought if anyone here may have some clue or hint how to solve this problem.

As far as I've heard it happens on S/V/C70 P80 quite often and it's related to microswitch inside the driver's door lock mechanism. As it's quite small and hard to reach, it's easier to replace the whole lock assembly (OE code: 8626281)

Hi Quixy

Can you lock and unlock the drivers door with a key from the outside?

On the driver's door switch pack, does the lock/unlock button do what it should do? (You should sit inside the car with all doors closed to test this).

Hi Quixy, I've been experiencing the same issue with my driver's door only and that's with locking/unlocking the car with the key, not the fob (mine doesn't work). It's only happening intermittently though with mine. I've found that if I close the door properly with a bit of momentum from a push with a nice sounding thud, it'll open fine after. If I gently close the door with the door lock connecting to the strike bar/plate, then give it a gentle push to close it fully, the door won't open again. This only happens sometimes.

Did you manage to resolve your issue?

Hello! No, I can't use the key as it doesn't go to the door lock (wrong size) so I only use key fob. The lock/unlock button actually works well yes.

Thanks for the tip! I, opposite to you, only can use the fob. I tried to close the door as hard as I could, but sadly it didn't help also.
