Default BUYING A NEW SHAPE V70 2.4S OR SE

I am planning on trading in my problematic 1999 V40 20SE for a low mileage V70 (NOT TURBO) on either a W,X,Y or 51 plate. I would appreciate any advice on what (or what not to consider). My V40 has been plagued with electrical problems and I am looking for a more reliable car this time around. I want to go for a high spec model but am conscious of the many electrical components that can fail. Are there any common faults on the new style V70 and is there anything I should specifically look out for? Jon H

jon if your main concern is reliabilty before buying a new shape v70 i would read the latest jd power survey published recently in the states it does not make for happy reading, volvo in particular came out badly(as did to lesser degree most other european "prestige" makes) with as normal the japanese (with a couple of exceptions) coming out streets ahead, im not really a fan of japanese cars but if reliabilty is your main concern together with high equipment levels they need consideration, having said all that i had a scooby forrester prior to my v70t5 and i know which one i prefer!
