Manual T5 Estate not shutting off....
It's a 95 M. I think with hindsight I'd prefer an Auto so I could keep both hands on the steering wheel.... you T5 owners know what I mean. Ah well. As the clutch is disengaged between gearchanges the revs hold or even rise slightly for 5 to 10 secs before shutting off. Letting up the clutch when it does this is quite brutal on clutch and tyres especially at higher revs (where it's more prone to happening). It's feels like the throttle cable is sticking although it isn't. The engine is up to temp. Has anyone else suffered?

What you could try is cleaning the throttle body as its connected the the accelerator linkage. If this gets gunged up i would hazard to guess it would give these symptoms.
http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/egr.htm Also it will be worth seeing if you have any codes tripped and post back or looking in your haynes manual if you have one?

RE: Manual T5 Estate not shutting off....
Markus,
Thanks for the info,I'll have a go at the linkage at the w/e.Some codes had tripped, the normal 232 and an overboost and wastegate jammed code ( haven't got the numbers to hand, but will check and post back)these were rectified at a service/ attempt to solve the problem when a vacuum hose to the w/gate was reattached. It didn't solve the problem.... I should really check to see if they have come up again. Thanks. |

Hi,I have exactly the same problem and it has been covered quite a while ago. If I remember correctly it is due to the ecu programming and the easiest way of coping with it is to double declutch with a slight pause,or, as I do just live with it:-(

Thanks jack, it doesn't do it all the time, on the odd occasion it works fine! but getting used to very slow gearchanges so as not to take hell out of the g'box. there is a little slack or shunt on the g'box anyway that doesn't help matters anyway. cheers for your info anyway.

RE: Manual T5 Estate not shutting off....
Kieran,
Back from hols hence the delay. I've cleaned the throttle body as markus suggested and also the idle control valve no luck. I have since learned that it may be ecu mapping which is really irritating if it is.I wonder if a superchips upgrade would smooth it out, I'll call them. Big gaps between gearchanges means the turbo backs off (again)Thanks for all advice Siadwell |
