Default V50 Servicing / Warranty

Just ordered my new V50 (2.0SE Sport).
I've owned 3 previous Volvos (S40, V40 & C70), still got the C70 and have always had them serviced at the dealer.
I've been sifting around the forum and seen that some people are getting their Volvos serviced independently. Is it ok to do this while still under warranty? There is obviously a financial reason for asking this!!

if this has been mentioned before but I'm new here.

Default independant servicing

the independant must be vat registered, and use genuine volvo parts.

im not sure how you stand on the paint/bodywork warranty inspection though, perhaps someone could elaborate on that.

Thanks for the quick reply

I read a post about someone getting their car serviced independently and then going to a dealer for a body check. Dealer complained and when the poster talked to Volvo Uk they said it was ok.

I keep getting quotes from the independant dealers to service my 2.0d V50 and they are so close to the main dealers price that it's not worth going that way. My 36k last week was £1 cheaper at the independant and the biggest difference has been about £20.

plus a car with fvsh will always sell easier than with just fsh, because the next buyer will always be worried about the warranty issue
