My 2014 D4 consumeds about 1l every 2000km. Before it's next service I'm going to do a piston soak - I'll remove the spark plugs and put some Berryman b12 into the cylinders, crank it for a few rotations and leave it sit for a few hours. Repeat a few times.
I'm hoping after that the rings will be cleaned and it will consume far less oil. A lot of people having success with this on other cars suffering with oil consumption issues due to the same reason. I'll report back in a few months Btw for anyone that wants more info on the process, check out DIY Dave on YouTube |

2019 S90 D4, it got as bad as 1liter every 250-300 miles, for me this meant adding oil on a daily basis, my return mileage was 180k but oil consumption started at 100k. The other issue which I believe is related is that it’s impossible to keep the emissions lamp off when it’s burning this amount of oil.

From @tuono's reply, it looks like either the issue wasn't fully fixed by 2016, or else the VEA engines are not as good at high mileage as the older 5 cylinder engines. Still looking at V70s with the newer VEA engine with 80-100k miles and wondering whether I want to take the plunge...

That sweet dark rumble when pressing the pedal with a whif of remap and last Those modern engines that must meet impossible paper emission standards demanded by crazed brainwashed corrupted bureaucrats who studied "law " and have no concept of the reality what is technically is possible, are a sign of the times its our modern ending of the roman empire Its becoming an open mental institution and not only with these engines There are engines nowadays that have cambelts rotating in sumpoil for 0,001 gram co2 "saving" Guess what happens with those belts , rubber dissolves in the oil and plugs everything if not already the belt snaps first . And be glad that you still can vote with your wallet and feet to buy something else. There will be times ahead that "they "will decide what you drive or not ,like those sweet times in eastern germany that you have to wait 20 years for your 2 stroke disability "car" while the bureaucrats drove top spec western volvo 760 and lengthened citroens . While ordinairy western germany workers could go flatout in excellent inline 6 bmwś on the autobahn And then you wherent allowed to point that out like we seeing here nowadays also Last edited by 5cilinder; Nov 6th, 2023 at 14:34. |
