Default Odd remote locking behaviour

About 2 weeks ago, my S40 stopped immediately responding to the lock/unlock buttons on the remote. It wouldnt lock unless i was very close to the car, and pointing the remote towards the centre of the car.

I assumed the battery had gone, so replaced it but was still doing the same.

Around about the initial time it starting doing this, I had reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery.

However last night, it suddenly started working properly again and I have no idea why? Has this happend to anyone else before?

Sounds like interference from something nearby transmitting on the same frequency as the key fob. Try parking it somewhere else and see if it still behaves in the same way.

Its wierd because it was doing it on my driveway. it was fine when i bought the car and is fine now. Just went through a phase of it seemingly not picking up the signal regardless of where I was.

Could be a loose contact in the keyfob, occasionally mine takes a few seconds to unlock after pressing the button. Almost like it's trying to decide if it can be bothered! lol
