Seems to work on older jap cars provided one knows what they are doing I guess. Not sure about Volvo cause the electrics might be more complex. cheers

I have a 96 obd 2 855 AWD, and i am going to put a T5 engine and turbo into it. I assume that it will still perform as a low pressure turbo until i get it re-mapped. I have posted on several forums and asked numerous tuners if they can re-map but have had no help whatsoever.

Speak to Stuart @ SW Autos, I'm sure he would be able to advise regarding the install of the T5 engine. He's also a tuner and specialises in Volvos so would presumably be able to supply a map!

Very helpful guy

I already have and got this reply

Hi Chris

Sorry but i have never done this conversion so i am unable to comment.

Thanks Stuart

This is about the best response i have had on the subject, so i am now thinking about learning how to map the car myself. I have had a few different jobs along the way inc engineer, car mechanic and computer technician.

Hello Ripsta,

I dont recall having had an enquiry from you, but can say that I will be able to supply MTE software to run a T5 engine in your car with your existing ECU.

We have done that before.

Regards, Don.Norchi.

Hooray! Excellent news, is this pre-made software or custom? How much and where are you please. Also do you think the car wil be driveable with the existing software or will i have to trailer the car to you?

regarding mapping it yourself, yes this is possible as i do this myself. But you would need to know what equipment to use and that info is sensitive.

In reply to your pm,

without seeing the car i couldnt be 100% sure as i have never worked on an lpt awd, but a t5 engine should bolt in and plug upto the existing wiring. without seeing an lpt ecu i couldnt say for sure whether it can be made to run a t5 lump at high boost\flow.

Hi Rips, do a search on ECU mapping or read a story lol.......

Once upon a time, before speed cameras and political correctness, I used to remove ECU’s from Sierra Cosworth’s, place them in a module and hook up to a Wang computer and program maps. So I guess it must be possible to-day, but don’t expect real answers from a commercial party lol……………….
