Default 340 Stone Chip Finish

Hi,
Can anyone help I'm trying to find a paint product that will replicate as near as possible the original stone chip finish which is applied on the side of sills and front valance. Any advice appreciated, thanks...

There's a paint expert on the forum somewhere. Shout louder and in other places, see if you can raise him

It's...er...stonechip It will need to be applied using a suitable air tool, and probably diluted down to suit. Try having a chat with your local friendly bodyshop supply place.

Here's a good place to start: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/stonechip.htm
Beyond that, further Googling will be required.

cheers

James

Isn't it similar to the Hammer finished Hammerite paint. I do remember repainting a light metallic blue 343DL back in 1983 and it looked ok...ish

Schutz underseal will give you the desired finish, it has to be sprayed on and built up in layers.

As long as you have a compressor it's easy to apply. You can get it from any paint supplier , all you need is the gun that screws straight on to the can the stonechip comes in. machinemart sell the guns ,the paint suppliers probably sell them too. Don't remember the guys in the paintshop applying more than one coat though as it goes on quite thick.
