I had noticed that. The car does take an age to warm up in the morning. I can drive for 30 minutes to work and by the time I arrive it's only about a quarter up the temp. guage. Just after it was serviced it was warming up in no time, but then a few days later, back to a very slow warm up and then the check light coming on.

What Roy Mc said above is correct - Volvo HQ issued an updated EGR valve and cooler when this issue was identified as a widespread problem, in late 2014. But then in early January 2014, they realised that the updated EGR valves were also giving problems, so they are now using a second updated EGR valve (the updated EGR cooler is still good, my dealer tells me). |

Following up on an earlier question. The change on my car has not led to any improvement in performance or economy. I thought it may have done at first but I think that is because I wanted it to. In reality it has had no obvious effect other than the light has gone off and the tortoise is now back in hibernation.

When I collected the car from the dealer, I thought the throttle response felt a little different but that could have been due to a) spending the previous day in a courtesy car, and b) the ECU re-adapting after the update for the new EGR valve and clearing of previous codes. I don't get the tortoise as I don't have the smart display ... |

Can I just ask, does this light only come on at start-up, or does it appear while driving?

Mine came on while driving. Went off again a few days later on start-up. Car had already been booked in for the replacement parts by the time the light went off again though.

[QUOTE=craigv60;1842425]Was the EGR valve definitely replaced when you first got the code at 5K miles?
There's no way for me to answer this really as I never saw the "before and after", I keep banging on about how poor Harratts are in Leeds, they did the swap so for all I know they may have just cleaned it. I wouldn't put it past them! |
